Yakima FrontLoader Bike Rack

This is one of our all-time favourite carriers! We love its ease of use, simplicity, durability, features and flexibility, we even love its utilitarian looks.

Due to its wheel-mount system, it's one of the most stable ways to carry your bike with both wheels on. Yakima's wheel-mount clamp design will ensure your bike is rock solid, with zero movement on the move. It's also a safe option for bikes with delicate finishes as there's absolutely no contact with the frame. That's right! You can carry your carbon bike complete on the roof without fear of frame damage, or dirty wheels taking up space in the car. Loading and unloading is made simple with Yakima's easy-to-use system, plus the FrontLoader holds your bike upright while you secure it.

The FrontLoader has an almost universal attachment system which will fit round, square, factory, or aerodynamic crossbars, everything except square bars exceeding 38mm in depth. If that isn't enough for you, it's also ultra-quick and simple to install, please refer to the fitting instructions below for more details.

Whether you have the latest Felt, Specialized TT bike, or you're still hanging onto your 1990s Slingshot mountain bike, this is the perfect carrier for you. If your bike has a front wheel between 20" and 29" and doesn't have mudguards, then it's likely to fit on the FrontLoader. It will fit kid’s bikes, road bikes, mountain bikes including Leftys, bikes with thru axles and disks, all without a problem, and it’s going to be especially nice to your sweet 6kg carbon rig.

Not only is the FrontLoader very easy-to-use, it also locks bikes to the carrier, and the carrier locks to your roof racks. These included locks can be matched to your other yakima products, so you've got one key for all. You can key alike your Yakima products by purchasing lock cores which can be found in our Spare Keys & Locks shop category. If you have any further questions about key matching please contact us for more information.

If you'd like to know more about the FrontLoader contact us anytime, or you can read Yakima's test review of the Frontloader, alternatively see this independent review of the Frontloader, discussing both its strengths and weaknesses.

The rack is working well. There is no wind noise and it fits nicely. I like that I can leave the front wheel on.

I carry either a mountain bike, road bike or gravel bike and it suits all three.

The customer service was fantastic with purchasing this rack, I have no complaint to make with that. The rack itself however, isn\'t so great in my opinion. I have a large frame 29er, which is awkward to load and unload due to the design of the carrier, which isn\'t long enough to support my bike. Unloading in particular is very precarious, as when I roll my bike out of the front wheel holder, the rear wheel runs out of room for support and I have to hold the bike up whilst rolling it back. A minor slip and the bike will fall on my roof and damage the car. My car is a Subaru Outback, which isn\'t overly high either. The carrier is fine with my son\'s 20\" mountain bike, and it is fair to average loading and unloading my wife\'s medium frame 700c hybrid. If you have a small to medium frame this carrier is probably ok, I wouldn\'t recommend it for anything from a large 29er and up though. It looks so easy on the Youtube clips, where they must be using a small frame bike. I wish I\'d stuck with the Proride.......
