> We are often asked 'what is the difference between the EuroRide and VeloCompact’ Here is the reasons we all prefer the VeloCompact.

The EuroRide is steel, the VeloCompact is aluminium. This makes the VeloCompact lighter, thus easier to handle and mount on your tow ball.

The EuroRide has a large turning knob to secure the carrier to the tow ball. The VeloCompact has a large ‘quick release’ handle (similar concept to the quick release mechanism on a bicycle wheels). So, the EuroRide is heavier and requires balancing on the tow ball while you turn the handle to desired tension.  When we show customers this feature, it is usually the point they are willing to spend the extra money on the VeloCompact.

The VeloCompact is lockable with Thule barrels (it can be keyed alike to other accessories). The carrier is locked to the tow ball and the bicycles to the carrier. The EuroRide only has a simple plastic key on the tow ball mount.

The VeloCompact is more adjustable, yet more compact. The VeloCompact will fit a wider range of bikes and is smaller to store.

The VeloCompact has quick release arms, making adjusting the frame holders easier.

The VeloCompact has ‘pump buckles’ vs the nylon straps on the EuroRide to secure your bikes wheels.

The tilt mechanism is foot operated on the VeloCompact vs hand operated on the EuroRide.

Feel free to visit our store to see the difference or browse the web. Any questions welcomed!

Thule EuroRide 943 AU 3 Bike Tow Ball Carrier Customer Reviews

I bought one of these Eurorides a couple of months back and it works OK. Someone at the track had the next model up from this (Euroway?) and it looked much easier to use than mine. Thought the guy at the shop was trying to upsell me but maybe i shoulda listened to him.
