One of the most popular styles of car around at the moment is the twin cab or dual cab ute.  They’re able to carry the family around comfortably but great for carrying a load as well.  If you want to take your bikes with you, there are a multitude of ways to do it.  Have a read below if you’ve bought yourself  a Toyota Hilux, VW Amarok, Mitsubishi Triton, Ford Ranger, Mazda BT50, Isuzu DMax, Holden Colorado, Nissan Navara etc and the choice should be much clearer.

Roof Racks

You could get a set of roof racks and bike carriers and leave the tray for your other gear.

Tow Ball Bicycle Mounts

Most utes come with at least a towball and most have a receiver hitch.  You can use the ball or receiver and once again keep the tray clear for your camping gear or other.

The items below are all pretty much dual cab/ute style specific items that utilise the tray feature of your car. They are all non permanent and removable and do not require drilling.

Yakima GateKeeper/ProRack Tailgate Pad

The unit below carries up to three bikes across the tray via the front fork’s tips. Expandable, multi-width and quick to install,  no drilling required and it’ll  fit just about anything.

The units in the links below all require permanent mounting and require drilling. They simply bolt into the side of the tray and attach your bike via the front forks. As with any of these style of fork mounted carriers, you will need a thru axle adaptor if your bike has a 15 or 20mm thru axle.
